A new video showing a built-up Tesla Motors Inc. battery factory outside Reno, Nev., has emerged.
YouTube user Black66 said they flew a DJI Phantom 2 drone over the Tesla “gigafactory,” capturing a coyote’s cameo appearance at the end of the video, which was uploaded Tuesday.
Here’s how the factory looked in June, when the same YouTube user uploaded a video:
The $5 billion factory is going up outside Reno, Nev. The company broke ground on the site last year, and the facility is scheduled to begin production in 2017 before reaching full capacity by 2020.
Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has said the factory is key to the company’s long-term success because it needs to churn out more and cheaper batteries to power its mass-market Model 3.
Model 3, our smaller and lower cost sedan will start production in about 2 years. Fully operational Gigafactory needed.
